Senior Vice President, El Pomar Foundation
Cathy joined El Pomar in 2003 after a lengthy career as a nonprofit CEO. Robbins oversees El Pomar’s Regional Partnerships, a program that utilizes community resources to proactively address issues. She currently is on the advisory council for the Inasmuch Foundation, on the board of Innovations in Aging Collaborative and on the board of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. In 2010 Cathy received the Steve Graham Award for Building Nonprofit Capacity from the Colorado Nonprofit Association for remarkable dedication and commitment to the quality of programs and services to the nonprofit sector as a whole.
With a long time interest in leadership in the nonprofit sector, Cathy provides nonprofit management training to El Pomar’s fellows. She is responsible for nonprofit executive leadership programs through El Pomar and the Center for Creative Leadership as adjunct faculty for community programs.
Robbins has a BA in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and a Master’s in Urban Affairs from Wichita State University. Since 1993, she has been an instructor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, in the School of Public Affairs, teaching graduate level courses in nonprofit management.
For fun and relaxation, Cathy practices yoga, exercises regularly, gardens, and reads avidly. For joy and entertainment, she spends time with her daughter Amy and son in law John and granddaughters Jackie and Josie that live in northern California.
