Sarah Steph has lived and worked in Colorado Springs since 2004. She is presently employed as an assistant controller at Classic Companies, a local land developer and homebuilder. She has a BA in Political Science and World Perspectives from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois and an MBA from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Sarah earned her CPA license in 2013. Her career has taken her inside the offices and operations of non-profit organizations, small businesses, financial institutions, and governmental entities all over the city and state. Sarah’s experience includes five years in public accounting as an auditor with Stockman Kast Ryan and Company. Her extensive work with non-profits includes audits of financial statements, assessment of internal controls, review of budgets, ratio analysis, research and consulting on technical issues and accounting standards changes, and IRS Form 990 information return preparation. This background helped develop Sarah’s interest in serving a local organization and has prepared her to serve as a member of Innovations in Aging’s finance committee.
Sarah enjoys exploring Colorado and the world with her husband and son at her side. She ran her first marathon in 2017, won’t turn down a good volleyball game, and loves to bake, read, and walk her dog.
Sarah considers working with Innovations in Aging an important way to support the residents of Colorado Springs. Her own experience in managing her mother’s household, finances, social obligations, and health care have fostered a sincere desire to advocate for and assist older adults who may not have the resources or family support needed as they seek to maintain independence. Sarah loves being part of an organization that tackles these challenges broadly, strategically, respectfully, and collaboratively.
